Hi! We’re Sander & Emilie
One Dutch guy & one French girl for one Delicious Adventure.
We met in 2018 in Picton, fell in love (with each other and with food), and after a road trip around the South Island, we settled in Karamea in 2020 — just in time to launch our project:
The Dutch Oven – Artisan Bakery
We’re all about real food, made from scratch.
Our specialties include:
Handcrafted sourdough bread (our pride!…)
French-style pastries (éclairs, cheesecake, tiramisu, tarts, vegan & GF slices…)
Viennoiseries (croissants, pains au chocolat, pain aux raisins, cinnamon swirls…)
Savoury snacks (sandwiches, pizza bread, salmon Danish, Quiche…)
All made on-site, using top-quality, local, and organic ingredients as much as we can. We even grow our own veggies at home!
At the end of the road in beautiful Karamea, you’ll find our cozy bakery filled with good smells, good vibes, and probably a cinnamon swirl with your name on it !
